The Home/Academy Agreement
This document outlines the key responsibilities and expectations of parents/carers, pupils, and the Academy, ensuring a collaborative approach to support your child's success.
Our Commitment to You: We promise to keep staff and pupils safe, set high expectations for learning and behaviour, and respond to concerns raised in a timely fashion.
The DCCA Learning Habits
The Academy expects every pupil to adhere to five key Learning Habits. Following these habits will help you succeed and receive recognition and rewards.
1. Be on time
Be on time to the Academy, every lesson, and after break/lunch. Truancy (leaving a lesson without permission) will result in an after-school detention.
2. Be polite, respectful and follow instructions
Show respect for each other, staff, and the physical environment (no littering or deliberate damage).
3. Work hard in lessons
Concentrate, participate, and complete your home learning activities on time and to the expected standard.
4. Bring the right equipment to all lessons
Come prepared every day. Mobile phones must be handed in at the start of each lesson and collected at the end.
5. Wear the correct uniform at all times
Represent DCCA proudly by wearing the uniform correctly both on the way to, and from, the Academy
Rewarding Positive Behaviour
Good effort and achievement are formally recognised to raise self-esteem and encourage progress.
Achievement Points: Awarded by staff for meeting learning habits, demonstrating BRAVE values, or producing exceptional work.
Weekly Rewards: Includes certificates, positive postcards, Principal's shout-outs, and gift vouchers for top attendance or achievement.
Termly Rewards: Top achievers (with the highest points) are invited to attend out-of-school rewards activities.
Our Framework: Sanctions and Exclusions
All actions, whether good or bad, will have consequences. Our framework ensures consequences are consistent, fair, and systematic.
Standard Sanction System (Negative Points)
Consequences for not meeting expectations are based on accumulating negative behaviour points, with adjustments made for pupils with identified special educational needs or difficulties.
-1 Point
Lunchtime Detention
Must be served that day (or the next day if issued after lunchtime). Failure to attend escalates to an After School Detention.
-3 Points
After School Detention
Issued for a single serious event (like truancy or being 'parked') or accumulating three -1 points in one day. Failure to attend may result in a day in Internal Suspension.
-5 Points
Internal Suspension (ISO)
The pupil's behaviour will be discussed at the behaviour panel, starting with at least one day in ISO, but may be extended for more serious events.
Detentions Note: DCCA has the legal power to issue detentions outside of Academy hours. For any detention occurring outside of the hours 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, parents/carers will be notified in the interests of pupil safety.
